Growing up in Southwest Philadelphia, Cclanus Tennessee learned early the importance of resilience, purpose, and giving back. Raised in a single-parent household and navigating a neighborhood challenged by poverty and limited resources, he turned obstacles into opportunities. From a young age, sports became an outlet for focus and discipline, teaching him leadership, perseverance, and the value of community support. These experiences instilled in him a lifelong commitment to empowering others, particularly youth navigating similar circumstances.
As Founder and President of The Tennessee Program, Cclanus has transformed his personal mission into tangible action. The program provides food and resource distributions, youth mentorship, community clean-ups, wellness workshops, and job readiness support. Under his leadership, the organization has become a trusted pillar in underserved neighborhoods, helping families meet immediate needs while creating pathways toward long-term success. His approach emphasizes holistic community care, ensuring that every initiative addresses not only physical needs but also educational, emotional, and social growth.
In his role as Commissioner for the Office of Black Male Engagement and Head of the Education Committee, Cclanus develops programs that expand access to mentorship, education, and career opportunities for young men across Philadelphia. He leads initiatives that improve student engagement, retention, and academic success while advocating for policies that promote equity and inclusion. Through citywide partnerships with schools, universities, nonprofits, and local leaders, he works to ensure that all young men have the support and guidance they need to thrive.
Cclanus combines strategic leadership with hands-on involvement, often attending events, mentoring youth directly, and engaging with families and community members. He believes that meaningful change comes from both policy and personal connection. His work has been guided by the principle that every individual, regardless of circumstance, deserves access to education, opportunity, and support to achieve their full potential.
Driven by a vision of healthier, stronger, and more united communities, Cclanus continues to dedicate his life to creating programs and initiatives that uplift neighborhoods, empower families, and inspire the next generation of leaders in Philadelphia.
